ーThis time, how
did you find incorporating SPLYZA Motion into your "Kinesiology Practicum" class as a teacher? Could you
also share the students' reactions?
Dr. Ino :
Yes. First of all, I was thinking about how to make students more engaged by using the latest technology and
apps to lecture on quantitative data and objective figures in the field of physical therapy. That's when I
came across the tool SPLYZA Motion.
This time, we also had a demo of the SPLYZA Motion operation during the class, and when the stick figures
were displayed after loading the recorded video into the app and processing it, there was a murmur of
excitement from the students. It made me feel that the lecture was very stimulating for them.
ーI observed your lectures about three times, including the
students' presentation. Everyone seemed very actively engaged.
Dr. Ino :
In the lectures, I communicated to them the process of exporting to CSV and graphing, but I didn't give them
more information than necessary. Despite this, the students, through group work, engaged in trial and error
while exchanging ideas and were able to present in a presentation format, including output to slide
materials. I think that there is value in this process.
In the future, I would like to improve presentation methods in a better direction and, for example, give
them the ability to look at the data well, integerValue.
ーIn fact, it seems that the students have come to understand
the importance of "learning through experience."
Dr. Ino :
Yes, that's right. As indicated by the title of the lecture, "Kinematics Practice," the theme is not only
about lectures but also about students learning through experience. Therefore, I think adopting SPLYZA
Motion this time was very effective.
ーI understand
that there are plans to include SPLYZA Motion in future curricula.
Dr. Ino :
Yes. In addition to the "walking motion" analyzed this time, we plan to analyze movements such as "rising
from a chair" and "getting up from a lying position" in the future.
ーFinally, please tell us again about the benefits of using
SPLYZA Motion.
Dr. Ino :
Specialized tools for motion analysis are very costly, and only limited medical facilities and schools can
afford such equipment and environments. The wide range of applications of SPLYZA Motion, including cost
considerations, allows everyone to use the system equally and conduct specific motion analyses. The actual
cost of specialized equipment exceeds imagination, and the ability for each person to touch the tool,
operate it, and perform analysis provides an "experience" that is very helpful in the field of physical
therapy.
ーIt seems that the approach has shifted from the previous
situation of just "seeing" and "hearing" to one of "exploration."
Dr. Ino :
Yes. Not everyone has a strong intellectual curiosity and can deepen their learning quickly just by hearing
a little about it and understanding the big picture. For those who "want to learn but don't know how to
learn" or "don't know how to apply the knowledge they have gained," I hope they will actively use tools like
SPLYZA Motion to gain "learning" and "insight" on their own.
